Hidden quality after negative first impressions

On receipt I was disappointed in the unpacking experience. It was not intuitive and finally led me to destroying the 'very custom' box the unit came in. There was no power adapter Included which surprised me although on re-examining the Amazon listing, I can see that it was NOT included in the description. What did come was an ONLY 24" charging cable that I evaluated as a stingy decision. So, opening. charging, and struggling to position the unit and its short cable to actually charge, were three (3) easily resolved hassles that were created rather than being resolved for me.Actually, using the device, FORTUNATELY, offered a much better first impression. I got a very thorough transcript and was impressed by the software's ability to differentiate voices with usable (not 100%) accuracy. I wondered for the first couple weeks why my photos were not being assigned to my recordings. Ater using the built-in help feature and some Google AI assisted searches I was still in the dark. Finally, I noticed a previously not-used-by-me 'Check Mark' on the photo screen that apparently is required to verify the current photo's insertion. Today a second Google Gemini request found this info. on Reddit "Based on user experiences, taking a photo within the PLAUD app during a live recording requires an extra step to ensure it is saved and timestamped correctly to the recording."So, I'm pleased with the result, and will use the unit as I'd hoped, but the company missed several 'New User' opportunities (e.g. An 'open here' label on the box, a 36" power cable, a power adapter option at purchase time, and an entry like the above Reddit note in their documentation). It could make it much easier to get started and improve on my own late start in getting the feeling of quality product.

Plaud is the cure for my ADD!

For someone who has scatterbrain through 90% of the day, the Plaud note is a savior. I’m able to record phone calls and conversations and easily reference the app for a quick summary and key highlights from the conversation.I would remind anyone purchasing this device to gain permission from the other party before recording anything. I have had no issues gaining consent, especially when I explain what the device is and what it does for me. If anything I end up being a sales rep for Plaud. There are a couple tips and tricks within the app that I would encourage users to read and try out. These can help ensure you’re getting the highest quality recordings and best functionality of the device.I would highly recommend this to anyone who lives a busy life and needs a device to help retain information. The AI built into Plaud has been outstanding so far. Not only does it analyze recordings and generate text summaries, it lets you ask questions in which the AI will reference the record recording or search the web for answers.I use this for everything from work meetings and phone calls to quickly noting a shopping list. This is way more useful than I expected it to be and there’s no buyers remorse here!

Awesome Product

Easy to use and set up, but exceeded expectations - I was totally surprised by the results, especially how easy it is to convert speech to a transcript. It saves me a lot of time versus trying to write down information in meetings, now I have an audio and a transcript of the meeting notes.

Powerful, Discreet, and Surprisingly Smart

The Plaud Note Pro AI Voice Recorder has been a game changer for meetings, interviews, and quick voice notes. It’s slim, discreet, and easy to carry, but the real value is in how clear the recordings are and how intelligently it processes them. The AI transcription is impressively accurate and saves a ton of time. Instead of replaying long recordings, I can quickly review clean text summaries and key points. That alone makes it worth it for productivity.Battery life has been solid, setup was simple, and syncing everything feels seamless. If you’re in leadership, healthcare, business, or content creation and need reliable recordings with smart transcription, this is a strong investment.

Why Use a Brain When You Can Hire a Lifeless AI Secretary

I bought the Plaud Note Pro AI Voice Recorder and immediately realized I may never need to fully pay attention in a meeting again. This thing listens, remembers everything, and turns it into clean, readable notes like it actually cares. You hit record, people talk, and later you receive notes that make it look like you were alert, engaged, and possibly born with super human memory. I have read summaries and thought, “Wow, I sound impressive.” I do not remember saying any of this.It captures details I absolutely missed. Action items, decisions, and important points are neatly organized by AI that does not get bored, distracted, or slowly lose the will to live during meetings. You could probably sleep lightly and still walk out looking like the smartest person in the room. Not recommending it. Just acknowledging the power. Now, yes, it does require a subscription for the AI features. But let’s be realistic. If you were paying an actual person that amount to sit in every meeting, transcribe everything perfectly, summarize it instantly, and never complain, you would absolutely be arrested. So this feels fair. The device itself is clean, simple, and easy to use. No drama. Just press record and let your new emotionless assistant do the work.Pros:Extremely accurate notes and summariesMakes you look organized and frighteningly competentNever forgets anythingCons:Requires a subscriptionWill expose how little you were actually listeningBottom line: This is basically hiring a tireless, lifeless secretary that works nonstop and never asks for a raise. If you attend meetings and value your sanity, this thing is worth it. Five stars.

Hands on new user review

The Plaud Note Pro AI recorder is an amazing tool for anyone who is in meetings that need to maintain a reference of what was discussed, action items, highlights of the meeting, and topics that were not concluded. A must for business meetings, town meetings, “Politicians”, educational classes, courses, etc. This tool increases productivity immediately. Have had this for 2 weeks. Still much to learn what else it can do.

Really impressed

Working as expected. I did sign up for the yearly subscription, about $100 per year. Gives 1,200 minutes a month. Amazing what the mics pick up. Had a meeting in a very loud restaurant with a client that doesn’t talk very loud and has a very southern accent. Note Pro picked up all of the conversations at the table, was able to name each participant and didn’t pick up anything from other tables.

Well made product, expect to pay.

Works very well, AI is excellent. Expensive, but very good. I don't have much use for it, but it is handy on those rare occasions. You might need a meeting recorder more often.

Very Good

Absolutely love this. Multiple formats to subside the information. I use it when conducting interviews, which allows me to remember key points, next steps, etc, and it does it almost perfectly. I have a few issues with it, though. First, the phone call recording doesn't not work well. It does not pick up the caller, just your voice. Second, it does not replace the "Speaker One/Two" with the name even after you identify the speakers. Last, and definitely least, when a name is mentioned in the conversation, it gets the name right about half the time, and will mess up if the person has an accent.Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase. No need to subscribe, 300 minutes a month is currently enough for me. I can easily export a PDF summary to Notion, too. If you're in meetings, or have trouble remembering conversations, this is a great purchase.

Best auto note taker

Honestly I was skeptical at first and definitely started with the free trial. This device has completely changed the way I engage in meetingsThe overviews will produce mind maps of you'd likeThere are several templates you can use or you can create your own and have them auto emailed. Additionally you can create or use a template to extract all action itemsBattery life is greatI haven't used this formally for phone conversations while attached to my phone, however have used it for virtual, in person, and speaker phone conversationsYou can have the software learn names and it will auto identify across other recordings. One thing I wish was a feature was the ability to cross reference different meeting to create a mind map to visualize how different aspects of my meetings cross over and relate to unassuming subjectsRecommend to purchase

This AI Recorder Replaced My Notebook, Phone, and Memory

I spend a lot of time in meetings, calls, and follow-ups, and I was tired of juggling notebooks, voice memos, and half-written notes that never got revisited. The Plaud Note Pro solved that problem almost immediately.Recording QualityThe audio quality is excellent. Voices come through clearly even in group meetings, and it performs well during phone calls. I did not need to adjust settings or mic placement. Press record and it just works.Transcription AccuracyThe transcription is impressively accurate. I tested it across different speaking speeds, accents, and environments. It picked up names, action items, and full sentences far better than I expected. The fact that it supports 112 languages makes it even more valuable for global or multilingual conversations.AI SummariesThis is where it stands out. After a meeting, the app generates clean, readable summaries that highlight key points and action items. Instead of replaying recordings or rereading pages of notes, I get a usable recap in minutes.App and WorkflowThe app is intuitive and easy to navigate. Recordings sync quickly, and reviewing transcripts or summaries is straightforward. It fits naturally into my daily workflow without adding friction.Hardware DesignThe device is ultra-slim, lightweight, and feels premium. The InstantView display is surprisingly useful for confirming recording status at a glance. The included case is a nice touch and makes it easy to carry without worrying about damage.ProsClear audio recordingHighly accurate transcriptionUseful AI summaries and action itemsSupports 112 languagesSlim, professional designEasy-to-use appConsRequires the app for full functionalityBest results come with clear audio environmentsFinal VerdictThe Plaud Note Pro feels like a serious productivity tool, not a gimmick. If you attend meetings, take calls, interview people, or need reliable notes without distractions, this device delivers.I use it weekly and trust it for important conversations.Five stars.

Plaud Note Pro AI Voice Recorder

I’ve had a very positive experience with the Plaud Note Pro. It captures conversations during meetings in a discreet and highly effective way, even when placed at some distance from the speakers. The recording quality and overall reliability have been excellent so far.I’m still experimenting with the output templates and summary formats, but everything has worked smoothly and consistently, with a very straightforward workflow. One of the biggest advantages is being able to use my smartphone normally while the Plaud handles the recording. This has noticeably improved my phone’s battery management, and it also reduces the need to store large audio files on my phone’s internal memory. In practice, it solves two common issues when recording meetings on a phone: battery drain and storage consumption.Overall, it’s a very useful device for anyone who attends frequent meetings and wants an easy, dependable way to capture conversations without relying entirely on their smartphone.

Life-changing; mind-blowing

You didn’t plan to remember every word. You just wanted the meeting to stop slipping through your fingers. This is for the moments that move too fast—ideas spoken once, decisions half-muttered, truths revealed between coffee sips. You press record and let it listen the way you wish you always could. It hears who spoke, when they spoke, and why it mattered. Later, it hands it back to you as order: clean transcripts, clear summaries, tasks waiting politely to be done.Slip it into a pocket. Lay it on a table. Mag-safe it to your phone. Forget it’s there. It doesn’t forget you. Voices arrive crisp. Context stays intact. And when you ask it questions afterward, it answers—patiently, precisely—using your own words as proof.A quiet companion.Slim as a card.Sharp as memory itself.— Details: • Records high-quality WAV audio with intelligent directional microphones • Transcribes and summarizes recordings in 112 languages with speaker labels • Ultra-slim aluminum body with AMOLED status display • Up to 30 hours recording (50 in endurance mode) with enterprise-grade privacy

5 stars for one use case - 3 stars for another

Really this is a 5-star review, but there is a lot of low-hanging fruit with Plaud that would make this device even more useful.TL;DRIf you want to use the Plaud for meetings and/or lectures, my recommendation would be pretty conditional. There are three big drawbacks, listed below, regarding ongoing costs, recording quality and ethics. However, for my particular use case - very many personal short notes for the keeping of a running journal - it's really great.NTL;RTHE 3-STAR REVIEWMany of the reviews are about three things:1. The cost and inconvenience of "buying minutes", especially after the relatively steep price of the hardware. The minutes are only deducted if the AI transcribes it, and sending a meeting to be transcribed is manual by default, but the whole minute-purchasing model feels liked we're being nickel-and-dimed.2. The success or failure at capturing meetings in larger rooms with multiple speakers. This is a difficult technical challenge, and Plaud is pretty good but not great at it.3. Ethical and legal questions around recording people. In the cases of meetings and lectures, it is not always practical to inform everyone who's in range of the mic that they might be recorded - a board meeting of 20 people for example, or a lecture of 30 students - so the gray area will remain. All of these issues strongly suggest this: As a device used to record long meetings or lectures eating up expensive minutes, and that take place in large noisy rooms or halls, among people who may not know they are being recorded, perhaps the Plaud is not the right tool.HOWEVER... this is not at all how I am using it, for those reasons, as well as my own.THE 5-STAR REVIEWI use the Plaud almost exclusively as a personal journal/note taker. 95% of my Plaud recordings are done by myself alone; driving, on a walk, on the treadmill, etc. They average about 1-2 minutes per note. I keep a running journal of daily thoughts and concerns, what movie I saw, how that back pain is feeling, I heard from Bill last night, etc. as well as project ideas, updates and next plans for projects in progress, whatever comes to mind really. For this particular use case, the Plaud is excellent. It is ideally suited to the recording of many short notes, recorded solo, and at close range. Using some of the very useful (but horrifically under-documented) more advanced features, I have managed to build a pretty robust storage system for all my random little notes I want to remember. The lack of documentation and training on those useful features is another problem. However, after a month of using it constantly, I have come to more and more rely on its "Ask Plaud" chatbot-like feature to just query it about my notes. It took me a while to realize that everything I record and transcribe with Plaud is building an ever-growing corpus of personal data that its AI is drawing from. For example, I have been storing notes I deem to be "project ideas" in a folder called Project Ideas, so that I can refer to them as a group later. And that's been fine, but I now realize that I can just ask Plaud "Show me all my project ideas" and that's as good or better than my habit of storing things in like folders for later systematic perusal. And someday I'll be able to ask it "When did I start to notice that my knee was hurting? Was it before or after I got those expensive shoes?" even though maybe it was five years ago. It's a potentially powerful device when looked at that way.

Smallest and lightest tape recorder ever... And it doesn't even need tapes 🤔😮

I'm still trying to figure out how best to use the device I noticed that when I had a call on speaker it did a record the other end of the call but it didn't seem catch some of my dialogue, like at all it couldn't even hear my voice like it had just blocked it out. It's new technology there's going to be bugs but I am excited to see what it can do and how it can help me get more organized. All in all it's a cool product.... However it would be invaluable if they could make a way to find the device if you lose it because I misplaced mine on the second day after I received it and couldn't find it for a week. So some kind of "find my device" or GPS tracker would be nice. I realize there's not really any extra space inside this conveniently small device, but... 🤷I forgot to mention that if you have an iPhone I guess there is a way to somewhat track it if it's is detected near other iPhones basically the same way the Apple tracker tags work, but if you have an Android you are SOL and that's not cool

Plaud Recorder Review

have been using the Plaud recorder extensively for meetings and conferences, and it has become an essential tool in my workflow. The device itself is compact, easy to use, and records audio clearly, even in larger conference or meeting-room settings. What truly sets Plaud apart is the transcription and summarization capability. I purchased the unlimited transcription service, and it has been well worth the investment. Recordings are transcribed accurately and efficiently, allowing me to quickly review detailed discussions without having to recall on my aging memory. The AI-generated summaries are particularly helpful for meetings, as they capture key points, decisions, and action items in a concise and organized manner.Plaud has significantly improved my ability to take reliable notes, stay organized, and follow up on important details from meetings and conferences. Instead of worrying about manual note-taking, I can focus on the discussion, knowing that everything is being captured and summarized accurately.Overall, I highly recommend the Plaud recorder—especially with the unlimited transcription plan—for professionals who attend frequent meetings, conferences, or lectures and need accurate records and efficient summaries. It delivers exactly what it promises and has saved me substantial time while improving documentation quality.
